Verified ReviewerMismanaged my care
Five years ago, I entered surgical menopause at a relatively young age. I have a history of endometriosis.
The gynaecologist (Gyne) prescribed the highest dose of estrogen. Over time, I started having pitting edema, pelvic pain and weight gain. My primary care physician (PCP) ran tests, all of which came out okay. I asked my gynaecologist about progesterone (I don't have a uterus but I had extensive endometriosis) and was told progesterone would make it worse.
I was put on Cymbalta by a pain specialist, but nothing helped my swelling. Cymbalta took some pain away, but I was still miserable. I trusted my gynaecologist throughout. After five years, I had enough and sought a second opinion.
The new gynaecologist (non-Loyola physician)prescribed progesterone during my first visit (just by reviewing my history and medications). She informed me that because of the extensive endometriosis, there were most likely remnants. The high dose of unopposed estrogen was making any residual endometriosis tissue grow. This put me at risk for endometrial cancer.
I am now on a treatment plan with a non-Loyola provider and am seeing progress. My Loyola PCP left and I had to select a new one. This new PCP ignored my concerns and documented in her notes that I was overweight. My ankles were like tree trunks and would make a dent whenever you pressed on them.
She documented that she counselled me on a 1000-****** calorie diet and the use of the MyFitnessPal app. This discussion never took place. She also documented that I had no pain, no swelling and many other inaccuracies.
She told me to take Beano for my swelling/bloating. Very dismissive of my concerns.
- Prolonged pain and suffering
- Increased risk of cancer
Preferred solution: Advise other patients to advocate for themselves
User's recommendation: Please review all physician notes after your visit. Correspond via MyChart so you have a record of the conversation and recommendations. Trust your gut. If things aren’t getting better, don’t be afraid to see another doctor
Price gouging
Brought my daughter in for a sore throat. They ordered a strep test and Covid test.
Came back negative. Only spent about 15-20 there and they charged a little over $1,000!!!
Insurance covered $700, I owe $400 for a simple test I could have bought over the counter for $20. This should be illegal to rip people off like that and get away with.
Terrible service
We had a appointment for a out patient test. We waited 2 hours past the appointment time with no explanation.
User's recommendation: Go somewhere else
Doctors
Doctors are very judgmental and lack empathy. Always quick to red flag but people really do need care.
PTSD and any other mental disorder isnt a joke. They make you feel like they dont care.
So many stories to tell but if you speak up, they treat you like youre fine. Till you get deathly sick.
User's recommendation: Find a Compassionate Doctor
Poor patient service
0n 4/21 I was discharged from Loyola medical center in Maywood I was treated for an eye condition. After discharge they made it seem imperative that I followed up the next day on the 22nd with a doctor at their Burr Ridge location.
I couldn't drive myself there. I had to take an Uber. They go through all this urgency to schedule me to go there only to get there and the physican Dr. Badar is an hour behind.
Which actually I think I didn't see her until an hour and 30 minutes later only to be rushed in probably spent all of 5 minutes with me to tell.me to stop using one med and gave me a list of specialist to go see. Any doctor at Loyola in Maywood or Gottlieb could have did that. I can walk to the 1st Ave location. I wasted 50 dollars on a uber paid a 45 dollar copay and got rushed service.
It was unnecessary and a waste of money and time. Dr Badar patients were rescheduling because apparently she was overbooked. Not to mention she didn't have any notes of info to fax over to the specialist I was referred to that she claimed they had. Loyola had me do alot of blood work which was not sufficient enough and I ended up going to Rush to get more labs done.
I don't think I would go back to Loyola. I hear alot of complaints and thought I would give them a chance but now I see why ppl complain.
User's recommendation: By pass Loyola

Verified ReviewerNeeds to be told
i was in lung transplant and decided to call and tell them that i wanted to stop, My reason for this was because of what they did 2 years ago i had gotton pneumonia supposedly when i was better i was to be reactivated ,that never happened but the calls for more testing came and was when you finish this we can reactivate you never happened and if you refused that was no good , they try to blame you for refusing to cooperate and thats false. Each doctor had a conflicting story
Preferred solution: Price reduction
User's recommendation: take someone with you so that they can hear the conversation

On 4/4/2024 a orthopedic physician faxed very sensitive medical information to my employer without my knowledge or consent. Nothing has been done once I filed a HIPAA violation with the Department of Human and Health in Washington D.C. Nothing was done by the Patient Relations department at Loyola Medical Center.
Preferred solution: Hold the orthopedic doctor accountable
User's recommendation: Keep trying to pursue legal help.
Poor Billing Practices
They apparently have "hospital billing" so what I had assumed were $25 office visits were ultimately charged as outpatient hospital visits that cost over $150 each!!!
I want to comment Dr. Lau, my Surgeon for a superb job with my surgery, mine was very intense surgery and did a fantastic job of repairing my hiatal hernia I would recommend going to Dr. Lau
I had a very serious operation to repair hiatal hernia, over 2/3rds of my stomach was up in my chest, Dr. Lau and his team did an amazing Surgery and I am now home recovering. I literally had no pain when I woke up from recovery, did not go home with pain meds and doing just great!!
User's recommendation: Dr. Lau is the Surgeon to see for serious stomach problems!

Hi cant live in appartment any more .
no body cant live in appartment like this please do something.
I have many photo how looks his appartment
My tenant Marek Gambka, current patient Loyola, cannot live in such conditions as shown in the photo, I have to do a major renovation, first the cleaning team has to clean the apartment and prepare it for painting, replace the carpets, stove and refrigerator. I have to do this before anyone can enter there and live like a human , otherwise I may be held accountable in court for the conditions in which people live in my place.
Thank you.
Billing
Horrible billing. I have BCBS great insurance!
They charge a facility fee, like you pay for the facility?! Am I paying rent to see my dr? literally told me the charge is for the exam room etccraziness.
Plus dr fee, etc
DONT GO HERE! DULY does not charge these absurd fees.
They say you signed the billing agreement.
Guess you need a an atty to read over first. Crazy! YOUR BILLS WILL BE ASTRONOMICAL HERE for a dr visit. Dont use their lab either, quest, duly and labcorp, almost no cost, here?
They say your at a hospital and i have a 2000.00 bill for bloodwork!! Insane
User's recommendation: Don’t use this lab or facility

Verified ReviewerRefusal to refill ER prescription
After being paid $7000 for ER and physician services for Hypertensive crisis on 03/23/2023 They refused to refill ER prescription despite attempts by Walgreens and patient requests prior to expiration. This is a sad reflection of the state of medical care.
SMH - ACID! ARROGANT
CALLOUS INDIFFERENT AND
DISINGENUOS.
REFUSAL TO FILL EXPIRED EMERGENCY ROOM PRESCRIPTION FOR HYPERTENSIVE CRISIS ON 03/23/23.
- Proximity to home
- Poor transparency of policies and practices
Preferred solution: Deliver product or service ordered
User's recommendation: Don't put up with their greedy practices go elsewhere
Horrible billing services
Loyola billing department is the absolute worst! Final bill constantly changes!
They send one statement and then the next one changes.
They say something is owed today and then next week it changes. Also they make billing policy changes with out notifying the patients.
User's recommendation: Go with another medical/care group!
Filthy conditions, unprofessional staff
My husband was transferred here to have a transplant- we were not allowed to get a second opinion. The only positive was his surgeon, Dr Yankol, and that he did receive a liver.
The hospital was filthy from the patient rooms to the waiting rooms.
There is no support at all after the transplant and they refuse to let you go somewhere else. They make your life ***
User's recommendation: Do not go to Loyola for anything!!
